1.  When I'm nervous I     my mind tends to race and then I usually laugh at myself because there's no need to be nervous  .

2.  My favorite item in my closet is     my black dress... you can do anything with it!

3.       Watching a great indie movie       is my favorite thing to do when I need to relax.

4.  My favorite childhood memory is      probably going to visit my family down south... it was always an adventure

5.  Something you may not know about me is     that I have broken my femur (largest bone in the body) and have had plastic surgery (because of a third degree burn... i'm not one of those people)  .

6.  A true friend      will tell you when you are acting like a idiot and expects the same   .

7.  Something I hope people think of when they think of me is     I'm not as insane as I seem (but I really don't care what people think... haha)    .

drive by press!

so, i've been sick. hence, lack of postage.
and, ya know... being sick was so much simpler in high school... not so much in college. so, i had to go to school... sick.... in the rain (our school is outdoors, so eating lunch is quite an adventure... and not the "wee! adventureeee!" kind... no bueno.)
BUT! it got better because my math teacher had nothing planned for class (great teacher, eh?) so he have us a quiz and then let us leave.... which was awesome because these dudes from drive by press were at my school! they were uhmazing. So pretty much, these two guys pull up in a van with a traveling printing press in it, and they print all kinds of their cool designs onto t-shirts which they sell in order to pay for their gas, food, etc. Unfortunately, i forgot my money :( but my friend got one and it turned out beautiful.

here are pictures... not from today, but from one of their previous events
you can see some of their designs on the bottom there...
my friend got this design... it was my favorite! jealous!

(p.s. DPA stands for Dirty Printmakers of America...awesome.)

um... did i mention they did all of this IN THE RAIN? well, they did.

ha!

“ Is graffiti art or vandalism? That word has a lot of negative connotations and it alienates people, so no, I don’t like to use the word ‘art’ at all.

to my valentine

this is for my bestest bud/cousin/valentine, giulia :)
these are five things that remind me of her/love her/make me want to see her right now.

1. this line from Annie Hall:
Love is, is too weak a word for what I feel - I lurve you, you know, I loave you, I luff you, two F's, yes I have to invent, of course I - I do, don't you think I do?
2. cheesecake
mmmmm.

3. bearded hipsters
or "beardies" as they are called
4. Dana Carvey
5. good indie romance films that make me cry
like Adam...
or What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
(my new favorite movie...? yes.)
or the Brothers Bloom
(looove)

happy valentines day, giulia!
XO.

p.s. STOP and smell the dozen

hmm... reminds me of my brain.

Publication Date
Franz Wright
One of the few pleasures of writing
is the thought of one’s book in the hands of a kind-hearted
intelligent person somewhere. I can’t remember what the
     others are right now.
I just noticed that it is my own private
National I Hate Myself and Want to Die Day
(which means the next day I will love my life
and want to live forever). The forecast calls
for a cold night in Boston all morning
and all afternoon. They say
tomorrow will be just like today,
only different. I’m in the cemetery now
at the edge of town, how did I get here?
A sparrow limps past on its little bone crutch saying
I am Frederico Garcia Lorca
risen from the dead–
literature will lose, sunlight will win, don’t worry

indeed.

marc johns is genius.
if you haven't seen his work, or his book then do so quickly.
i bought his book for my cousin for christmas and she loves it.

peter pan

i watched disney's peter pan last night for inspiration for a disney-costume-birthday-tea-party that i'm going to next weekend for my friends birthday :) i'm going as wendy darling! I'm so exctied to see what the birthday girl dresses up as... her mom was mickey mouse at disneyland and so she loves everything disney!
but i'm starting thinking about the version of peter pan that I watched as I little girl.
It was the 1960 musical version with Mary Martin as peter pan... i watched that movie over, and over, and over.... I still really love the way that version kept a lot of J. M. Barrie's vision..it really portrayed the "never grow up" aspect well :)

am I the only one who loved this version?
it still makes me happy
:)
